Long Lives With Type 1

The Diabetes Forecast is the American Diabetes Association magazine. Their 60'th anniversary was in October, 2008. The magazine wanted to include stories about people with 60 or more years of type 1. Eleven long term diabetics were interviewed, and their stories were told in that issue. I was one of the eleven. One of the stories is about William Rounds. He was diagnosed in 1923, when he was 11 months old. He attended the Joslin medalist meeting in 2009, so he was type 1 for 86 years at that time. There are two additional links at the bottom of the article. One shows William Rounds and his story. The other discusses the Joslin Medalist Study which had been in progress for three years at that time.
